Devon and I joined forces to make this belt rack for our 9-year-old daughter. I have to paint a few more slats, but it’s mostly done. Next we’ll make one for our 5-year-old.
MAKER MONDAY: Kill. Loot. Repeat.
This coaster is made from engineered wood and antique walnut stain.
Those kobold babies aren’t going to murder themselves.
I had a blast designing these coasters for our online store, and I plan to give some to our gamer friends for the holidays.
It’s weird that I spend so much time making coasters given how damaged most of our furniture is. Maybe I’m just planning for the day when we can have nice things again.
MAKER MONDAY: Unicorn earrings for a sick-day project
Materials: Wood, paint, metal
Our 9-year-old daughter was home sick from school and mentioned she wanted unicorn earrings, so I got to work on our laser cutter. I love projects that use up scrap wood. Devon is better at painting small things, but this was good enough to please our daughter.
You can find this design (and others) at SpongeBobb’s Etsy store for $1. This isn’t the first unicorn project I’ve done and it won’t be the last, so I’m betting that dollar will be well spent.
MAKER MONDAY: From trash to treasure
These keychains (and more) are the product of our guilt over the amount of craft trash we generate.
Devon saves all the scraps from the paint racks he creates. Our drawers were getting full, so I repurposed the wood and back copies of Dragon magazine. I coated the top with UV resin to create a glass-like finish.
MAKER MONDAY: Coasters of the evil gods
Last year, I created a set of coasters for our gamer friends for the holidays. I was happy enough with them, but the time crunch forced me to settle for mediocrity. Over the last year, I played with them on and off until I got a set that makes me happy.
These 1/4” engineered-wood coasters were cut on my Glowforge and hand-painted. I modified the designs to turn them into magnets, pendants, earrings, pins and keychains. Next I’ll make some for the good gods, or maybe I’ll branch out into Pathfinder deities.
